മാതൃഭാഷ അഥവാ എൻ്റെ ഭാഷ "മറ്റുള്ള ഭാഷകൾ കേവലം ധാത്രിമാർ മർത്യനു പെറ്റമ്മ തൻ ഭാഷ താൻ" മാതൃഭാഷയെ പറ്റി പറയുമ്പോൾ മലയാളത്തിൻ്റെ മഹാകവി ശ്രീ വള്ളത്തോളിന്റെ ഈ വരികൾ എങ്ങനെ വിസ്മരിക്കാനാവും. ഓരോ മലയാളിക്കും പെറ്റമ്മയാണ് മലയാളഭാഷ. മലയാളഭാഷയ്ക്ക് ഒരു സ്വതന്ത്രഭാഷ എന്ന നിലയിൽ രണ്ടായിരത്തി മുന്നൂറോളം വർഷത്തെ പഴക്കമുണ്ട് എന്ന് പറയപ്പെടുന്നു. ദ്രാവിഡഭാഷാ കുടുംബത്തിൽപ്പെട്ട നമ്മുടെ മലയാളത്തിന് 2013-ൽ ശ്രേഷ്ഠഭാഷാപദവി ലഭിക്കുകയുണ്ടായി. 'മലകളും സമുദ്രങ്ങളും ഒത്തുചേരുക 'എന്നർത്ഥമുള്ള 'മാല ,ആളം 'എന്നീ ദ്രാവിഡ വാക്കുകൾ ചേർന്നാണ് മലയാളം എന്ന വാക്ക് ഉണ്ടായത്.                        അമ്മയുടെ പാലിനൊപ്പം നമുക്ക് ലഭിക്കുന്ന മധുരമാണ് നമ്മുടെ മാതൃഭാഷ. നാം ചിന്തിക്കുന്നതും നമ്മെ സ്വപ്നം കാണാൻ പഠിപ്പിക്കുന്നതും നമ്മുടെ അമ്മ മലയാളമാണ്.  ഒരു വ്യക്തി ലോകത്തെ മനസ്സിലാക്കുന്നത് തന്നെ തൻ്റെ മാതൃഭാഷ യിലൂടെയാണ്. അവൻ കുട്ടിയായിരിക്കുമ്പോൾ മുതൽ അവൻ്റെ ചുറ്റുപാടുകൾ ഗ്രഹിച്ചു തുടങ്ങുന്നത് മാതൃഭാഷയിലൂടെ ആണ്.                 ...
